Only two games in, but Perez appears to be the Royals' best defensive catcher since Jim Sundberg (who was already on the down side when he joined the Royals). Perez has crazy skills and will save Royals' pitchers bases and runs yielded.

It's nice to see a player appreciated for his defense. Fans often get obsessed with offense, but Perez may change that.

I would have hoped that Escobar would have already provided that perspective. He's a gem.

Chris: You're right, Esky is worth his weight in hits. There's just so much attention paid to offense and not nearly enough to defense.

It all counts toward a win and I hope this website can help fans recognize that.
